Behind the scenes over the years, working on some fun little projects, doing what I love

I have been involved in different aspects of video and audio production over the years, including filling the role of videographer, A1 (audio engineer), post production, motion graphics, and editor and I learned the basics of each along the way. These do not represent the complete sum of my work, only a small fraction from some of my favorite little shoots.

Most recently, I was A1 and P.A. on various in-house projects at Tag. As these were zero-budget, I brought my own equipment: green screen, support bars, light and mic stands, sound blankets, clamps, sand bags, mics, cables, and audio recording and processing gear.

Filming green screen footage for The Wine Dude podcast with all the gear I’d collected up to that point.

The Wine Dude podcast, filming at Geyser Peak Winery in Sonoma, California. Guess which one is The Wine Dude? :)

It was hard to find a bad direction to point the camera while filming in Sonoma, CA. The scenery was magical, verdant, and lush. Here are a few more BTS pics from that episode in and around the winery, as shot by our friend and Captain, Brent Eldridge.

Several other episodes of The Wine Dude were fun, informative, and full of wine tasting—the best weather, scenery, and great fun with friends.

Wilson Winery in Dry Creek Valley

Jeff Bundschu of Gundlach Bundschu Winery was one of my favorite interviews to shoot for The Wine Dude podcast.

When The Wine Dude is near (at left in his “uniform” of shorts and branded wine shirt), the camera is always ready.

Bartholomew Park Winery has a fascinating evolution. The Wine Dude explores the history of the building and wine with Kathy Kennett. This episode was edited by Evan Darlington.

Editing The Wine Dude podcast, I set up a Producer Couch on the lower level of my condo for guests and producers. Video and audio were connected between the rooms for collaboration. This was the ultimate work from home setup—making this my first multi-room facility back in 2006. Here we see Shawn “The WIne Dude” Richkind recording bass tracks from downstairs for underscore.

This is a 2-camera shoot over 2 sessions where I captured some great family history from interviewing my Grandmother.

This is something I cannot overstate: Record the stories of your elders, those who fought in wars, those who persevered through life’s trials, those who came from a different time and a different place—those people helped shape the existence of you and they are part of your story.
